Admiral's Place Gibraltar

Overview

A beautifully designed, exclusive, gated residential estate, Admiral’s Place nestles in the calm of Gibraltar’s South District. Developed on the site of the Old Naval Hospital by Hopefield Property Ltd. in 2001, with its gorgeously landscaped gardens and basking in the Mediterranean sun, Admiral’s Place overlooks the clear blue of the Straits to the west and is protected from the elements by the Rock rising up behind it to the east.

The estate was developed with sensitivity to the historic architectural and design features. The original roofs and facades were preserved and the development was so successful in retaining the original beauty of the buildings that it won a Gibraltar Heritage Award.

Admiral’s Place is focused around a courtyard of lawns and flowerbeds lined by terraced houses and some apartments developed from the quadrangle of buildings that made up the hospital. Surrounding the quadrangle are quiet roads, where other properties are situated, interspersed with resident-only parking bays. From stunning mansions bearing the traditional features of colonial architecture, to modern flats with a traditional twist, Admiral’s Place is one of the most sought-after areas in Gibraltar.

Besides the well-tended communal gardens, Admiral’s Place can boast its own outdoor swimming pool for the use of residents. The pool is roomy, shaded with trees and with ample areas for sunbathing and picnics, its surrounds looking out over the sea, providing a perfect area for summer relaxation.

Schools in Admiral's Place

Perfect for families, Admiral’s Place is located only a short walk from St Joseph’s Pre-school, First and Middle Schools. For older children, the bus stops into town for access to the girls’ and boys’ comprehensive schools and Gibraltar College are also located only a short walk away and all are within a 15 minute drive. Gibraltar also boasts its own University situated at Europa Point overlooking the Straits and is just a few minutes’ drive from Admiral’s Place.

Local facilities

Although set in a quiet area of Gibraltar, Admiral’s Place is a 10-minute drive from the city centre, the commercial and financial districts, restaurants and leisure centre, the hospital and health centre and main supermarkets, although these are also readily accessible by bus from the nearby bus stop. A little closer to home, there are a number of small shops, a pub and social clubs within easy walking distance of the estate.

Thing's to do in Admiral’s Place

Gibraltar’s South District has a number of clubs and associations set in the area, including the Gibraltar Academy of Music and the Performing Arts at the nearby South Barracks and the Dolphins Youth Club.

For those with an eager outdoor nature, the open spaces of Europa Point are a couple of minutes drive away, while those of an energetic disposition will enjoy the steeper climbs towards Europa Road and the Mediterranean Steps which will take walkers to the very summit of the Rock.

Gibraltar is home to many sports with facilities available at the Victoria Sports Centre to the north of the city centre. There are also numerous local venues throughout the Rock, from district football clubs, rugby clubs, tennis courts at Sandpits (just 5 minutes drive from Admiral’s Place), fishing associations, gymnastic and dance clubs to name but a few. And if cue sports are appealing, Gibraltar has its own snooker and pool associations, with their own venues situated at Jumpers Bastion, also within a short drive of Admiral’s Place.

Beach lovers at Admiral’s Place are just a short drive from Camp Bay, with its open air swimming pools and beach, and its beach bar and restaurant. Even in winter, Camp Bay is a pleasant place for a walk and for children to let off steam in its outdoor ballpark and children’s playground.

Getting around Admiral's Place

Admiral’s Place is a 15-minute drive from Gibraltar International Airport for flights to various cities in UK including London, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol. There are also direct flights to Morocco. The frontier with Spain and its open roads to the rest of Europe lie just beyond the airport.

The bus services are regular and include a night bus service for those wishing to linger in town and enjoy an evening at one of the many nightspots at areas such as Ocean Village, or at the theatre. The Gibraltar Taxi Association also runs a 24-hour service. For those who enjoy life on the waves, the two luxury marinas and the new, small boat berths in Mid Harbours are all within a 15-minute drive from Admiral’s Place.

Stunning views, exclusive homes in a historical setting in a calm, secure estate and yet within easy reach of a city teeming with activity are just some of the features that combine to make Admiral’s Place a Mediterranean haven.
